...There was a surprise phone call from movie star Roger
Smith. Roger is known for his role as "Smiley" in Spike
Lee's "Do the Right Thing", the light skinned
brother in "Get on the Bus," the FBI agent in
"Panthers" and "gay dude" in "Poetic
Justice". Roger also has several TV appearances in his
portfolio. None of these achievements have hindered Roger from
being a diehard, faithful reggae fan. What is Rogers latest
activity? He is currently playing at 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on
April 6 th at Public Theatre, Layfette St,
Manhattan. Telephone: 212-539-8500 for tickets and show
information. Look for ticket giveaways on the Saturday's a Party
- Question of the . Lister will reinterview Roger after he sees
the play
...the call [from Roger] was a nice surprise.
B.Wailer's publicist (Kim Smith) called [Lister] live on the air to formally apologize on behalf of Bunny for missing the plane to do the interview at WUSB on Lister's show [Saturday's a Party]. The concert [BW at MSG] appears to be basically a word of mouth thing. Kim Smith reported that B Wailer will be on Letterman this Tuesday.
When Lister asked for complimentary ticket giveaways to the show, Kim said that ticket giveaways were out of her control since she was not in a position to make those decisions.
Kim Smith also innocently made reference to B. Wailer being the first hardcore reggae act to headline MSG. After listening to to Kim's meaningless frothings, Lister's brain foamed, and he made reference to "Braindrain". Kim Smith disagreed and Lister told her to check with B.Wailer for the facts [Just the facts Kim, the facts].
[ClappersHeads hope B. Wailer will show up on the Live Reasonings with the facts, near truths and gossip]
Facts about first hardccore to headline MSG:
She [Kim] and the rest of the world seem to have forgotten that
the bassist Stanley Clarke was the opening act
for BM during the Kaya tour a 20,000
seat event. Marley was the first hardcore reggae
act to play the arena. Marley's performances antedated the
performances by B.Wailer and UB40.
Marley did it twice with Kaya and Uprising. Commodores
[Commodogs] records were hot but tickets were not selling so BM
was added to the show but the deal was that BM would be
considered an equal act rather then an opener. BM
opened on the first night. The crowd loved BM
and they subsequently walked out during the Commodores
[Commodogs] show after fifteen minutes.
[Lister's reaction to Kim Smith's statement]....at the end of interview Lister states that he is thinking of sponsoring the free ticket giveaways to BW at MSG just to underscore his raging anger against promoters of reggae shows in NYC who constantly exhibit disrespect for the show audiences.
[S~~~~] more to follow..... boy dat boy can chat!!!
Visit Live Reasonings On Line and read or post messages about the BW MSG Sting - latest Reggae Stank. Gopher Kay, Night Nurse and Kibret Neguse have posted messages on the conference about the BW MSG Sting.
Reggae expert and roving reporter of WUSB 4DRMW, Ms. Vinette Price, called Lister and did a surprise interview on the air. She commented about the football game (soccer game for those who know it as such) between the reggae D.Js versus the reggae vocalists. The match took place in Harborview with Maxi Priest and Buju Banton both scoring while Bunny Wailer did not (Listers comment off the record: "Grammy winners dont have to score").
Match Point: the vocalists prevailed and Lister requested a rematch at MSG!!! Ms. Price also mentioned that Anthony Bs birthday party was a huge success. Listers comments about Bob Marley being the first ever solo reggae artist to headline MSG were brought up again with Ms. Price unable at the time to recall the details of the event but replied she would investigate.
Listers private thoughts at that moment:
if I am
correct she buys the two tickets to the MSG show this month to be
given away on "Saturdays a Party"
if she is
correct it is a dinner of ackee and salt fish
.it is amazing no one believes me
.BARTENDER
pour
me another Slurpee 39!!"
The interview ended a discussion of Vinettes trips to Senegal and while it sounded wonderful Lister stated the place to be today is Zaire as he wished her well in Walaff [Editor: Where or What is Walaff] ..
So ends another party till next Saturday!!!
