LKJ Is Hot! Hot! Hot!
Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. EST, Gopher gets a call ...
By the way ... who is that man who reads poetry to reggae ...
I guess that could be LKJ ... where did you hear it?
On public radio ...
What time ...
Oh about 10:OO a.m.
What was the name of the program ...
Uh? I dunno ...
sigh ... [Loud gnashing of Gopher teeth. Gopher illegaly accesses the web from the slave pits .. WABE ... NPR ... ah ... morning edition ... Johnson .. Yes!]

Morning Edition 15/12/1998
NPR's Elizabeth Blair reports on Linton Kwesi Johnson, the premier dub poet who does NOT want to be associated with RAP. However, he is billed as the grandfather of RAP. LKJ's poetry documents the black immigrant experience in BritLand. Some credit him for being the first poet to declaim his socially conscious verse to a reggae beat.

LKJ's album, the island anthology "Independant Intavenshan" is available in the US. His new album "More Time" is NOT available through the internet at: lister dot ultrakohl dot com/homepage/lkj/lkj.htm

Gopher Kay in shock!

LKJ Performs in Bedford on 10/24/98

Message to: Linton Kwesi Johnson After listening to your reading tonight in Bedford we were mezmerised. We have grown up listening to your music and we were sorry that you had to rush off afterwards to catch a train (we would have given you a lift) we would have liked to have had a jaw afterwards.
Thanks for a entertaining and thought provoking evening.

Rushing off is typical of LKJ. Ask Pier. (:-D

Looking for LKJ Publications

Hi my name is Tirzah and I am trying to get hold of thefollowing books:

Tidings An' Times - LKJ Bloodaxe Books 1991
or

Dread Beat An' Blood - LKJ Bogle L'Ouverture1975

I live in Cape Town South Africa and I need to find out if there is a supplier here that I can get it from.
Any help from you would be much appreciated

They are listed at Amazon.com. However, the first has to be special ordered and the second is no longer in print.
